Finding my
colour

For far too long
The world had told her
"don't paint in colour
There is nothing of value here"
But within her spirit
She knew different
Because she FELT life
And she saw its vision
Confirmed by marks of colour
Embracing a self-portrait of grey
Even the pain contained beauty
In grey shards
Of splintered hearts
And love grew in the strangest of ways
Splayed in the colourful gaze of her design
She painted the raw experiences
That others would hide from
Because she was not afraid
Of colour in every shade.
